Quality Standard 4
Teachers demonstrate professionalism through ethical conduct, reflection, and leadership.
ELEMENT A: Teachers demonstrate high standards for professional conduct.
When my students observe my timeliness with producing materials for projects as well as getting lessons graded in a timely manner, this provides a good example. I try to introduce expectations that can assist any grade level in understanding what expectations are like in the :real world".
ELEMENT B: Teachers link professional growth to their professional goals.
I feel that my student teaching experience has had a learning curve I could compare to a rollercoaster creeping up the first big hill. It is important to adapt to surroundings and learn from my mentors. Asking questions and inquiring on a daily basis sometimes requires a thick skin. As an educator I should always expect to keep learning.
ELEMENT C: Teachers are able to respond to a complex, dynamic environment.
Dealing with the pandemic has provided an opportunity to put my educating skills to the test. Patience and adaptability are two traits I believe teachers cannot excel without.
ELEMENT D: Teachers demonstrate leadership in the school, the community, and the teaching profession.
I strive to explore all platforms of continuing my education. Without growth, I cannot fully expect to reach my potential as an educator.
Reflection:
As an educator it is important to always keep in mind that I serve as a role model. This does not just apply to when I am in school but also anywhere I am in the community.
Integrity means doing the right thing even when no one is looking. I take this definition to heart and plan on implementing this concept in my classroom.
