With which two dispositional areas do you feel very comfortable, and why?

I feel my strongest dispositional area is DESIRE TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE.  I have made many sacrifices to go back to school as a non traditional student.  Although I have had many adventures around the globe, returning to college at age 45 is probably the biggest adventure I have experienced.  I also have a great support team of friends and family and I couldn't have done it without them.  For these reasons I am fully committed to becoming an educator that makes a difference in young peoples lives.  My parents were both teachers and seeing the impact they had on their students over the years has been inspiring.  It is important to me to continue to grow as an educator.

 

I also feel strong about my  COMMITTMENT TO PROFESSION.  Embarking on a new career at my age is exciting but also a little scary.  I see a wonderful future ahead of me and I will be involved in every opportunity to grow as an educator.  Teaching is a giant responsibility that requires patience, adaptability, and a mindset that I can always improve.

On which one dispositional area do you want to focus in the future, and why? 

​

In the future I  would like to focus on COLLEGIALITY AND RESPONSIVENESS.  I look forward to collaborating with my team of educators and I look forward to learning from them.  I believe I have an open mind and am responsive to criticism.  This being said, I will become involved in committees and extra curricular activities at my school.  I was fortunate to work with mentor teachers that each had two decades of teaching experience.  We can all learn from each other and I look forward to soaking up advice from my team. 

 

How will these dispositions support the PROFESSIONAL GOALS you have for yourself?

I am not afraid to ask questions.  In my past experience in management I express how questioning is an important skill.  I look forward to growing as an educator with the help of the network of teachers I have already established.  I would like to use my education as a tool to help my community.  Running for school board is a goal I have that will be possible if I am constantly striving to improve my dispositions.
